"Art of the Cross" was a decent book, it showed the cross in a multiple of different art forms all within the Southwest genre. It was interesting, but not outstanding. I would have liked to see the crosses used more as a religous/decorative aspect in a room rather than in isolation. Most of the photos were in isolation not within a broader theme or venette. Not one of Mary Emmerling's best decorating books, but you can tell she has a special affection for the cross.A lot of pretty photos, not many decorating ideas. I would buy it again, as there are not a lot of books about crosses as art.
I purchased this book for a friend and took time to leaf through it. It is short on content (a little more history on what you are looking at would have been nice) but the photos are beautiful. Buyer be aware that this is not a comprehensive all encompassing look at the cross ... it is largley limited to spanish and native american works.
I am very much into crosses as a decorating tool as their are very inspirational and beautiful to look at. Mary Emmerling always does a great job - more pictures would have been a 5 star "LOVE IT"

As with all of Mary Emmerling's books, this one is done beautifully. The photography is wonderful, and the text is perfect. I always enjoy her books.
