There are good ideas with reasonable scientific base but the whole book turns into a relentless Christian propaganda which greatly detract from making the story interesting. You feel as if you are being given a sermon on a new biblical myth.
I usually do not enjoy science fiction, but this book had me pleasantly surprised. Although the science and space stuff was waaaay over my head, the ideas, characters and relationships kept me turning the pages and reading until the very end. (And this is the first science fiction novel I can say that about, LOL!). The author was very creative with his ideas about a futuristic society; it really makes you think! Also, I would have to say that I disagree with another reviewer who labelled this as "Christian propaganda". Coming from a Christian (myself), that is simply not true. I didn't find anything Christian about this novel, although there is somewhat of a spiritual component which I didn't find offensive and I don't think most others (of any religion) would either. I highly recommend this one for science fiction buffs and non-science fiction buffs alike!
This is the best hard sci-fi work.to come out in a long time. It reminded me of Asimov and how the author took future tech and explored what it might due to humanity. The adventure is beautiful and terrifying at once. A must add to the list!!
