While the moral of the story was solid and heart-warming, the story line itself was quite disjointed and, frankly, all over the place. As a reader, I would avidly follow the plot then abruptly stop and re-read at the sudden, unexpected drift of the story. Words were well written and engaging, then the characters would change personalities and run in an entirely different tangent. All the thoughts and ideas were solid, but lacked cohesion and fluidity. The story showed wonderful potential, which was sadly unrealized.
Sometimes during the hustle and bustle of everyday life of “Englishers†we forget that life used to be simple and easy; no TV sets, no internet, no cell phones. People really sat on the front porch and had conversations. Families used to bow their heads and pray and family always was the top priority. I enjoy the Amish books greatly and this one was perfect.
Once again, Linda Byler has written another perfectly delightful and well-written book. I enjoyed every page, particularly since it was crafted so masterfully by an actual Old Amish author, whom I can trust to have her facts about the Amish right. I highly recommend Becky Meets Her Match.
This book is written quite differently than others I've read by this author. Her words are descriptive, positive, and brings this lovely young woman and her family to life. All you need to know is in the synopsis of the book. Just immerse yourself and enjoy a clean, warm, read.
Just a wonderful story by a writer with a gift for words...had me laughing out loud or wanting to cry. I read it in one sitting because I just could not put it down. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Because I grew up in Berks County, PA, I enjoy a good Amish story. I also graduated from Twin Valley and went past many Amish homes to and from school. Thank you for a good summer read!!!
The main character, Becky, was so real and believable. Storyline held my interest from beginning to end. Excellent presentation of Christian truth and principles.
Great for those who love reading Amish books. Another great read
